The Honda OEM VTEC Solenoid Spool Valve Assembly is a genuine factory replacement designed for select Honda and Acura K20 and K24 DOHC i-VTEC engines, including the Acura RSX Type-S, Acura TSX, and Honda Civic Si. This assembly regulates engine oil pressure to the VTEC system, allowing the engine to switch between camshaft profiles for optimal performance throughout the RPM range.
A failing VTEC solenoid can cause inconsistent VTEC engagement, hesitation under acceleration, reduced engine performance, or a check engine light. Oil leaks around the spool valve gasket can also develop over time.

Installation Notes
- Before replacing the spool valve assembly, inspect the electrical connector, engine oil level, oil condition, and related wiring. Low oil pressure, contaminated oil, or clogged filter screens can cause symptoms similar to a faulty VTEC solenoid.
