The Turbosmart TS-1-7170B-VR107E TS-1 7170 Kompact Turbocharger is engineered for serious high-performance and motorsport applications requiring substantial airflow, rapid transient response, and flexible packaging. This specific configuration combines a 71mm compressor inducer, 70mm turbine exducer, reverse-rotation architecture, 1.07 A/R turbine housing, V-band turbine inlet and outlet, and external wastegate configuration. Part of Turbosmart's TS-1 oil-cooled turbocharger family, the 7170 utilizes an ultra-low-mass rotating assembly and proprietary dual ceramic bearing system designed to provide exceptional transient response. Its aggressive 7+7 splitter-style compressor wheel is manufactured from 2618 aluminum and paired with carefully developed compressor and turbine aerodynamics to deliver strong performance at lower shaft speeds while maintaining airflow at high engine loads.
The hot side is engineered for the extreme temperatures encountered in high-output turbocharged engines. A lightweight 310S stainless-steel investment-cast turbine housing surrounds a high-temperature 713C Inconel turbine wheel, while CFD-developed housing geometry is designed to optimize flow and A/R characteristics. Each turbocharger is also VSR speed-balanced to support smooth, reliable operation at extreme shaft speeds.

- Because the TS-1-7170B-VR107E is externally wastegated, boost control is handled by a separately installed external wastegate. This allows the builder to select the wastegate size, quantity, and placement appropriate for the engine's displacement, exhaust flow, manifold design, and desired boost range.
