Take precise control of extreme boost applications with the Turbosmart TS-0551-1312 GenV UltraGate38HP High-Pressure External Wastegate. Designed specifically for turbo systems requiring unusually high base wastegate pressure, this specialized version of Turbosmart's compact UltraGate38 combines a 38mm valve, 2-bolt mounting flange, and high-pressure actuator capable of base pressures up to 50 PSI.
The TS-0551-1312 arrives configured with a 35 PSI base spring pressure, making it an excellent choice for high-boost racing applications where a conventional low-pressure wastegate actuator may not provide sufficient mechanical boost control. Additional reference-signal manipulation can provide even greater boost-control flexibility when used with an appropriate electronic or pneumatic boost-control system.
Turbosmart developed its GenV wastegate platform using CFD optimization and in-house flow validation, with particular attention paid to exhaust flow, thermal management, fatigue resistance, and longevity. Premium materials including a high-temperature 347 stainless-steel body, Nitronic 60 valve guide, and 17-7 PH stainless-steel springs help the UltraGate38HP withstand the severe operating environment found in high-output turbo systems.

Purpose-Built for High Boost
- The biggest distinction between TS-0551-1312 and a conventional UltraGate38 is its high-pressure actuator. Turbosmart designed the HP series to provide mechanical base boost pressures as high as 50 PSI, giving serious race applications significantly more spring-pressure capability than a standard external wastegate.
- The supplied spring arrangement sets the wastegate at approximately 35 PSI base pressure before additional boost-control strategies are applied. Because of this exceptionally high base pressure, this model is intended for engines and turbo systems specifically built and tuned to operate at these boost levels.
Compact 2-Bolt UltraGate38 Design
- Unlike the larger V-band-mounted wastegates in Turbosmart's lineup, the UltraGate38 retains the traditional 2-bolt mounting arrangement. This makes the TS-0551-1312 particularly attractive for existing manifolds already configured for a 38mm 2-bolt external wastegate. Turbosmart's technical documentation specifies a 38.1mm / 1.5-inch inlet pipe diameter for the WG38 installation.
- The GenV version retains compatibility with the established mounting orientation while substantially updating the actuator and internal design compared with the previous generation.
Advanced GenV Construction
- Extreme exhaust temperatures place tremendous stress on an external wastegate. Turbosmart uses a 347 stainless-steel main body and Nitronic 60 valve guide to provide the thermal durability required in these conditions. The actuator can also be liquid-cooled when required, although liquid cooling is an optional feature rather than a requirement for every installation.
- The actuator can be rotated to accommodate different manifold and engine-bay layouts, while the variable cap and base allow the boost-reference connections to be positioned for cleaner hose routing.
Installation Note
- The TS-0551-1312 is a universal high-pressure external wastegate and requires a compatible 38mm 2-bolt wastegate flange. Turbosmart's documentation specifies 38.1mm / 1.5-inch inlet and outlet pipe sizing for this model.
- Because this version comes configured for approximately 35 PSI minimum mechanical boost pressure, it should only be used on an engine and turbocharger combination designed, fueled, and professionally tuned for that level of boost. Installing an electronic boost controller cannot command boost below the wastegate's mechanical base pressure.
For serious high-boost applications requiring substantially more actuator pressure than a conventional wastegate can provide, the Turbosmart TS-0551-1312 GenV UltraGate38HP combines a compact 38mm package, 35 PSI supplied spring configuration, up-to-50-PSI HP actuator, premium high-temperature construction, and the flexibility of Turbosmart's GenV architecture.
