| Brand: | PTP Turbo |
Reduce unwanted heat transfer into your Honda's turbocharger inlet system with the PTP Turbo Lava Inlet Pipe Blanket. Designed for select Honda turbocharged applications, this thermal-management upgrade helps insulate the turbo inlet pipe from the intense radiant heat generated by the turbocharger and surrounding exhaust components.
Honda's compact turbocharged engine bays place the inlet tract close to some of the hottest components under the hood. As temperatures rise, the inlet pipe can absorb substantial radiant heat. PTP's inlet pipe blanket creates an insulating barrier around the pipe, helping slow heat transfer and maintain a cooler intake tract during everyday driving, spirited use, and extended track sessions. PTP describes its inlet blankets as being specifically intended to reduce heat transfer into the inlet pipe so the air entering the turbocharger can remain cooler.

Premium Lava Construction
- PTP's Lava material is engineered for extreme-temperature environments. The outer layer is manufactured using pulverized volcanic lava rock formed into fabric and woven into a tight mesh. The material is rated for approximately 1,800°F of direct heat and 2,500°F of radiant heat.
- Internally, PTP uses calcium magnesium silicate wool insulation rated for approximately 1,832°F continuous and 2,300°F peak temperatures. A high-temperature stainless-steel mesh provides additional reinforcement and thermal resistance.
Why Insulate the Turbo Inlet Pipe?
- The inlet pipe carries incoming air directly toward the turbocharger compressor. Because of its location in the engine compartment, the pipe can absorb heat radiating from the turbocharger and exhaust system.
- PTP's inlet blanket acts much like insulation around the pipe, slowing the rate at which that radiant heat reaches the inlet tract. PTP's stated goal is to reduce heat transfer into the inlet pipe and maintain cooler incoming air temperatures.
Pair With a PTP Turbo Blanket
- For more complete thermal management, the PTP Inlet Pipe Blanket can be combined with a PTP Turbo Blanket.
- The turbo blanket contains heat around the turbine housing, while the inlet blanket provides another thermal barrier around the intake tract. Together, the two products address heat at both the source and the nearby inlet pipe.
