Designed for select turbocharged Honda and Acura applications equipped with compatible aftermarket 3.5-inch downpipes, this purpose-built thermal blanket helps contain the extreme heat generated by the downpipe rather than allowing it to radiate throughout the engine compartment.

The FPRO35-240-01 is designed around aftermarket downpipes such as those from PRL Motorsports and HKS, with applications including the Civic Type R, Accord 2.0T, RDX 2.0T, and other compatible K20C-powered platforms. By retaining more heat within the exhaust system, the blanket can help reduce engine-bay temperatures, decrease heat soak, protect nearby components, and maintain hotter, faster-moving exhaust gases.

PTP constructs the blanket using a fire-retardant volcanic-rock Lava outer layer combined with high-temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool insulation. This combination provides exceptional thermal resistance for demanding street, track, and high-performance applications.

  • The FPRO35-240-01 uses PTP's high-temperature Lava material, manufactured from fragmentized volcanic rock engineered to withstand the extreme thermal environment surrounding a turbocharged exhaust system.
  • The outer layer is rated for temperatures up to 1,500°F direct and 1,800°F radiant, while the internal calcium magnesium silicate insulation provides protection up to 1,800°F direct and 2,300°F peak.
Reduce Under-Hood Heat
  • The downpipe is one of the hottest components in a turbocharged engine bay. Without insulation, a substantial amount of this heat radiates toward the intake system, wiring, hoses, firewall, and surrounding components.
  • The PTP Downpipe Blanket acts as a thermal barrier, containing more of this energy within the exhaust system. PTP states that reducing transferred heat can help decrease intake temperatures, extend the life of under-hood components, and improve vehicle response.
Ideal Addition to a Complete Thermal-Management Package
