  • The performance of a shifter is everything. It can mean the difference between winning a race and missing a shift, and a high quality shifter can make your car shift like a new, high-performance machine. At Hybrid Racing, we take our shifters seriously. When we began designing our RSX shifter, we wanted to deliver a product that outperformed all others. We started our design process by incorporating the features that have made our other k-series shifters popular...adjustable height, adjustable shift knob position, and independently adjustable throw and gate spacing. We were the first to deliver features like this when we released our k-swap shifter over 5 years ago, and we have been refining our designs ever since. Our RSX shifter's performance is the best testament to this constant refinement.

    We wanted to develop a shifter that felt great even after years of use and abuse. With that in mind, we incorporated a proprietary wear-compensating pivot ball design. We also used teflon-lined end links and spherical bearings to provide silky smooth short shifts and plenty of durability. To ensure everything worked as intended, we built a custom machine that cycled the shifter through all of the gears over 1.5 million times. To make sure we were leading the pack, we even put competing shifters on the same rig. No competing shifter lasted more than 10% as long as ours without seeing severe, performance hindering wear.

    When it comes to adjustability, this RSX shifter truly shines. Adjustments are a breeze and can give you many different options in terms of shift feel. With just the turn of a single 5mm allen wrench, you can adjust your shift knob to be 2" taller or 1" lower than stock. With the same allen wrench, you can adjust the knob position, bringing it closer to or further from the steering wheel, meaning you can shift quickly and keep your hands on the wheel. Want your shifts a little shorter? This shifter can reduce throw anywhere from 10% to 50% (below stock throw) by just loosening the cable retaining bolt with a 10mm wrench and repositioning it. Gate spacing (left-right shifter motion) is also adjustable. This means that if you like short throws and wide gates, long throws and narrow gates, or any other combination, you can custom tailor it to your preference. The custom bell-crank style rocker design allows a larger adjustment range than competing shifters without putting your cables at risk of extreme angles, which is why many short throw adapters damage OEM cables.

    A quick look at the materials used on our RSX shifter reveals a design that cuts no corners. The baseplate is made from formed and welded A6 steel with dimpled holes to improve rigidity. The rockers feature full 6061-T6 aluminum construction with oil-impregnated bronze bushings that are designed to provide quiet operation with no need for lubrication. The shift levers are made from stainless steel to avoid unsightly corrosion. Even the centering springs received special attention when we had them custom wound and installed inside of a rubber sleeve to cut down on noise during shifts.

    With its superior construction, adjustability, and unmatched testing and performance, this short shifter is second to none.

    the shifter you want

    This is the best shifter I've had in a car. Shifting is tight and accurate. The cons are shifter is not as adjustable as you would think if you have a center console. The joints loosen over time without loctite. Pros outweigh cons, every shift is amazing paired with their cable bushings.

    great shifter

    It is very nice. Very clean shifting , it breaks in after about 50 miles and is not near as crisp as when you first put it in and go and I have it on the shortest up and down setting

    A great short shifter

    This short shifter is very crisp and clean. I had a K-tuned prior to this shifter, and this is a much better feeling shifter. The spring design is also much better than the OEM design. A few complaints though; For whatever reason, I have fitment issues with mine, where no one else seems to, everything in my interior is OEM. Also, the design seems to be a 'weaker' design, being steel without a strong base.

    Overall Satisfied

    I first installed this SS into my 05 type s and I really loved the feel to the shifter compared to the stock box. It is ALOT stiffer, in my opinion, you even have to muscle in the reverse gear at first. You get use to the stiffness tho, I guess you build the muscle to deal with it hah. I then purchased an 06 type S because the 05 was totalled in a crash. While transfering the SS to the next RSX I realized the base of the shifter was separating, apparently due to the force I was shiffting with. I sent pictures Hybrid Racing and they advised how to fix it. Keep in mind, I had only used the shifter for 4 months and it had a forced gap. Quality parts but the assembly seemed iffy. Regardless, I fixed it with loctite and now I'm back to the beautiful, FAST shiffting I'm use to.

    Awesome shifter

    I love the way the shifter feels. The way its made is top notch and a really good looking piece of work.I had the buddy club SS before this and there isn't even a comparison. Hybrid-Racing FTW.
